Reigning African Club Champions, KCB Women’s Volleyball Team has unveiled four new players as it prepares for the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league playoffs this weekend.

The club’s Technical Director who doubles up as the National team’s coach Paul Bitok received the players in a contract signing ceremony held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, Nairobi

The new signings include Faith Cherotich, Elizabeth Mariana, Pauline Chemutai, all of whom are joining the Munala-led side from Kwanthanze Secondary School. The fourth player, Outside Hitter Juliana Namutira was snapped from the KDF Ladies’ Volleyball Team.

Bitok singled out Elizabeth Mariana who becomes the first volleyball player from the MAA community to join a team competing in the topflight local league. The three players joining from Kwanthanze Secondary School are below 20 years old and are tipped to inject new energy into the team as it looks to lift this season’s trophy.

“By signing up these young players, we are looking at tapping into the talent of upcoming sports stars and to give them a chance to shine on the global stage. This will be a significant step in the development of volleyball in the local Kenyan scene while also ensuring that players make a living out of this sport,” added Bitok.

The team will kick-start its playoffs campaign against detectives DCI on Friday afternoon before facing Kenya Prisons on Saturday and finally Kenya Pipeline on Sunday.
