Nyeri leaders have vowed to bring down the motion to impeach deputy president Rigathi Gachagua as threatened by Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka saying that the motion has no basics.

Led by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, the leaders said that they would not allow anybody to belittle Gachagua and any monkey business to attempt to bring him down will be frustrated since they will tackle it on the floor of the house.

“We have heard one or two people talking about impeachment and I want to tell them that we have a single ticket for presidency that was occupied by both the president and the deputy president, any person who thinks he has the withal or power to bring an impeachment let them know that we will tackle them in the floor of the house,” Kahiga stated.

He said the duo must be respected for who they are and that they have total confidence in their leadership.

Kahiga noted that Rigathi was also a son of Mt. Kenya and therefore should not be vindicated.

Wamatinga echoes Kahiga

Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga said that they are solidly behind Ruto and Gachagua and if such a motion is taken to the floor of the house it will not see the light of day.

“Rigathi Gachagua is not the deputy president by chance, he worked very hard for it we saw him being tortured, being punished, being done all manner of things to disrupt him from supporting William Ruto. The two are like conjoined twins who are inseparable on the basis that they have a common agenda of delivering services to the people of Kenya,” Wamatinga said.

He said the intentions of those planning to impeach him is to drag the Kenya Kwanza government development agenda.

“We want to tell the president and his deputy that we are solidly behind them, please don’t stop at every barking dog because we have a common agenda, we have a course, our eyes and minds are focused and we must deliver on the mandate that Kenyans elected us upon,” he said.

He said that majority of the people did not expect that Gachagua would perform noting that he has not only served as a deputy president but also united the Mt. Kenya region.

On his part Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia said attempts to impeach the deputy president will be rendered futile, claiming that the MP who intends to bring the motion is not even known and he has never contributed to the Parliament proceedings.

“We want to assure our deputy president that we are solely behind him and we will bring down the motion as it has no basis and even the mover of the motion is not known and he has never spoken in Parliament,” Kaguchia said.

His Kieni counterpart Njoroge Wainaina echoed similar sentiments saying the motion will be dead on arrival.

He, however, said that it is worrying based on the timing of the impeachment comments right after the meeting of the Luhya leaders with the chief minister Musalia Mudavadi.

“This is hot air, we Mt. Kenya are really waiting for that impeachment. We dare them to bring it. We are going to look at it in parliament and decide on it. All we can say is that it will not see the light of the day,” he said.

The leaders said that there are no cracks in the Kenya Kwanza government and that the president and his deputy are on good terms.
