Two die, two critically injured in Kajiado accident
Two people died on the spot on Namanga Road, Kajiado County, after the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon.
The Toyota pick-up with four occupants was heading to Namanga from Kajiado town when it rolled while trying to avoid cattle crossing the road. Two people died on the spot while two others are in critical condition. They were rushed to Kajiado referral hospital.
Kajiado Central Sub-county police commander Daudi Loronyokwe told motorists to be on the look out for animals crossing the road during this drought season.
“It is sad that two passengers have lost their lives this afternoon in a self-involved accident,” Loronyokwe said. He further warned motorist against speeding.
“Drivers are prone to speeding along Namanga Road because it has fewer vehicles. There are many trucks on a daily basis. Currently, there is a surge of unattended livestock and wild animals crossing the road due to effects of drought,” the police boss added.
The four occupants are believed to be workers of a power generating company within Kajiado County and were heading to a job assignment. The bodies were moved to Kajiado referral hospital, while the vehicle was towed to Kajiado police station.
