Ruto’s ally attacks Uhuru over their disagreement
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei claimed Kenyans must not keep quiet when President Uhuru Kenyatta unfairly attacks his deputy, William Ruto.
In a statement on Sunday, July 3, Cherargei said the Head of State should not blame the Kenya Kwanza alliance presidential candidate for the failures of his government.
“He (the president) shouldn’t blame DP William Samoei Arap Ruto for his non-performance in the government of high cost of living and failing economy,” Cherargei said in a Twitter post.
Sentiments by Cherargei come after President Uhuru told off Ruto for attacking the same government he serves.
The Head of State accused the DP of moving around giving promises yet he has failed to deliver while serving in the government.
“I am saddened when I see some people ever complaining about the failures of the government. Someone who has been given a task to serve the country, instead of performing his role, is just busy making noise here and there,
“All we are hearing is we will do this and that, why didn’t you do it while you were in a similar position,” President Uhuru said in a veiled attack on his deputy.
Speaking in Bungoma on May 7, Ruto had also called on President Uhuru not to blame him for the failures of his government.
“Don’t blame me for issues that I was never involved in. When I was helping my friend Uhuru there was no gap. Those telling me to resign should tell me what responsibility I have failed to implement.
“I have discharged every responsibility discharged to me by the constitution by the law and the president. Am the Deputy President until the 8th of August this year?” DP Ruto quipped after claims that he absconded duties.
Ruto and his team have been accusing President Uhuru and his handshake partner, Raila Odinga of being responsible for the economic woes facing Kenyans.
According to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade, DP Ruto’s role in the government was taken over by the former prime minister after the handshake.
“The President and Hon. Raila (who has been the De facto deputy president since 2018), is squarely to blame for the economic woes facing Kenyans at the moment. Dr William Ruto was kicked out and his roles were assigned to other people. Facts!” Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki said in a tweet on Saturday, July 2.
