Moses Kuria claims Janet Mbugua turned down his running mate offer
Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has claimed that former Citizen TV presenter Janet Mbugua has declined an offer to be his running mate in his quest to become the next Kiambu Governor.
This comes weeks after the lawmaker called on qualified female residents of Kiambu county seeking the running mate position to come out and apply.
In an advert on a local daily, Kuria said that he was looking for an aggressive lady from Kiambu County who can help him deliver his key manifesto to the people of Kiambu should he clinch the governor seat in the coming election.
“To deliver his programme, Hon. Moses Kuria is looking for an aggressive, self-motivated, self-driven lady professional to take up the role of the Deputy Governor,” he said in the advert.
“The successful candidate must possess a Master’s Degree and a proven track record leading in a complex organization with at least 10 years experience, five of which must be a senior executive level. They must be citizens of Kiambu County,” he added.
In a Tweet he made on Thursday morning, Kuria revealed that of the candidates who applied for the position, Mbugua emerged as the best but will not take the position due to personal emergencies.
“I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term,” the MP said.
Though Mbugua turned down the offer, according to Kuria, the controversial lawmaker promised to appoint her in one of the positions in the Kiambu County Government should he win the elections.
While justifying his promise to Mbugua, Kuria noted that she is an inspiration to the youth and her expertise and experience would be vital for service delivery to the people of Kiambu in his reign.
“My administration will definitely find a way to benefit from @OfficialJMbugua experience and capacity in the future. I feel the loss. Janet is a huge inspiration for the youth, professionals, women and young mothers of this country,” Kuria said.
