Linda Kangogo emerged victorious at the third leg of the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series which was held at par 71, Eldoret Golf Club at the weekend.

Playing at home tuff handicap 27, Kangogo carded 42 stable ford points to clinch the title over the weekend.

“I had an awesome flight and was relaxed that is why I have won,” said Kangogo whose poor start in the first three holes did not hinder her winning spirit.

“First and second hole I played badly. I had a double  bogey, bogey and triple bogey, I started to pick at hole 5 which is a birdie that is a two club and from there my game started to pick up.” 

She had a supporting cast of John Kibosia, Philip Melly and Linda shah.

Kangogo experienced a challenging  course but it was a blessing in disguise.

“The course was dry and I found it hard to play the ball which kept landing on the greens and slowing down,” added Kangogo who was aiming to reach handicap 18 before the end of this year which she has achieved.

“I am trying to improve on the game so next year I will be targeting handicap 17.” 

She posted 23 points in the first nine and combined with 19 points in the second to floor a field of over 70 golfers who took part in the event.

Kangogo score was one point ahead of Stephen Isoe, at handicap 12, who emerged the runners-up with 41 points ahead of handicap 16 Stephen Karobio who finished as third overall with 40 points in countback to beat Handicap 13, Evance Maneno and Handicap 15, Dr. John Kibosia were ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

In the nines, Diana Chemweno and Nathan Tororei bagged the top honours in the first nine and second nine respectively with 22 points and 25 points respectively.

In the longest drive contest, Sandeep Grewal was crowned the winner among the men while Dr Florence Murgor claimed the honours in the women’s category.

Speaking during the awards ceremony, KoTDA CEO John Tanui said the series has created an engagement and interaction platform for the authority with local investors, as KoTDA accelerates the development and impact of Konza Technopolis.

Tanui said, “The tournament that has been held here today is part of Konza Technopolis Development Authority’s investor outreach strategy which is anchored in our ambition to be a worthy investment destination. We want local investors to be part of the future that we are creating through Konza Technopolis.”
