The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has refuted claims that it used Ksh72million in the three-day extension of the nationwide mass voter registration to register fewer than 100 voters.

In the statement, the electoral body sought to debunk a report by a local daily that stated that the Acting IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan told the National Assembly that the Commission had spent the aforementioned amounts to register less than 100 voters during the three-day extension ordered by the High Court on November 1, 2021.

“The correct facts are that the Commission registered 105,850 new voters during the three-day ECVR extension and NOT 100 as reported by The Star Newspaper,” the statement read in part.

The Commission further encouraged Kenyans eligible to register as voters since it has resumed the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in all the 290 IEBC Constituency Offices.
