A search is underway for a worker who went into hiding after he allegedly raped and killed his employer at Njogu Sub-location in Mavuria ward, Embu County.
The deceased’s husband Jonah Ireri, said he had left his wife, Lydia Syomiti, 44, at home with his worker, David Ndimwa Kakuli as he went to work on Tuesday.
When he returned that evening he found his wife and the worker missing. His wife’s phone was not going through when he called so went to sleep.
The following morning, he went to Ndimwa’s house and found his wife lying dead on his workman’s bed and reported the matter at Kiritiri police station.
Confirming the incident Kiritiri police station Deputy Commander Iniviolata Lumati, said when her officers went to the scene of crime, they found the woman lying dead on the bed with right hand tied to the bed using a mosquito net but with no physical injuries.
She however said there were marks outside the house that indicated there was probably some struggle before the murder.
Lumati said they suspect the deceased was raped before she was killed adding that a hunt for the suspect who went into hiding after the act has been launched.
The officer urged members of the public to assist security agents in tracing him by providing information on his whereabouts.
She advised residents to be wary when employing strangers and as much as possible get all details about the employees.
