Walter Juma, playing off a handicap 17, showcased his best form to emerge victorious in the thrilling fourth leg of the Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) ‘Bank With Us’ golf tournament at the picturesque Malindi Golf Club, Kilifi County, yesterday.
Undeterred by a field of over 70 golfers from Malindi and its surroundings, Juma masterfully navigated the par 70 course to secure an impressive total of 42 points.
His remarkable performance secured the top spot, outshining his nearest rival, Peter Pohland, who notched 39 points in net standings.
Juma’s triumph was a testament to his consistent prowess, achieving 21 points on both the front and back nine holes. This well-rounded performance crowned him the overall winner of the tournament, a title he earned through exceptional fairways and strategic gameplay.
Pohland, his closest challenger, earned 16 points in the first nine and 23 points in the second half of the game.
Reflecting on his victory, Juma expressed his gratitude to DTB for orchestrating a stellar event at the Malindi Golf Club.
With a palpable excitement, he added: “My first nine was excellent, and so was my second nine. Our well-maintained Malindi Golf course enabled me to play competently. I intend to build on this win in more of the series and secure my title as the ultimate grand winner.

Njambi Wasige, playing off a handicap of 52, captured the Lady Winner Category with an impressive 40 points. Her remarkable performance allowed her to edge past her closest rival, Nancy Gatwiri, who secured 38 points in the Lady Runner-Up category.
Her strategy yielded 17 points in the front nine and an impressive 23 points in the latter half of the game, securing her the coveted Lady winner title.
In other categories, James Mutua claimed victory in the Men Runners-up category with 37 points, while Kennedy Nyakomitta, Director of Sales-DTB, emerged triumphant in the Staff Winner category with 25 points.
