Former Tottenham Hotspur and Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed his preferred destination after leaving Major Soccer League side CF Montreal.

The Canadian outfit confirmed Wanyama‘s departure on Thursday, November 21, 2024, and as he is a free agent now and having played for many clubs in different leagues, the midfielder says he is not yet retiring.

He says playing in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, or a move to Turkey and even other leagues in Asia, would be a good move.

“To play alongside someone like Cristiano is huge; he is an icon who everybody would love to have in his team,” he said in an interview with The Sick Podcast.

Energy

Although many would have placed a bet on Wanyama finally retiring, the former Celtic and Southampton star has said he feels like he has energy to power him for another two years.

“I still believe I can play anywhere for two seasons in the top level and then maybe continue with the lower leagues, but I still believe I still have good fuel for two years. I’ve been everywhere now; to be honest, I’m open to trying other leagues like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Asian leagues or maybe staying in the MLS,” he said.

Wanyama’s next move will be keenly followed by his followers given that he has played in Belgium, Scotland, England, and Canada, and his upcoming choice could be an interesting one.
