AFC Leopards head coach Tomas Trucha has pointed out the mistakes his players must work to avoid ahead of the Mashemeji Derby.
Ingwe are expected to host Gor Mahia on Sunday, November 24, 2024, and Trucha, whose side has been struggling, wants his team to avoid making unnecessary mistakes and score goals.
“We are working towards avoiding unnecessary mistakes. If you look at our previous matches, we have been conceding our own mistakes. As a team, we should also work on our scoring. We have been creating a lot of chances but unfortunately not scoring many goals. For us to consistently win, we should be sharp in front of the goal and use our chances,” Trucha said in an interview with the club’s website.
Pressure
The tactician has been under immense pressure and a target of acts of hooliganism. During their 2-0 loss to Ulinzi Stars at Kinoru Stadium in Meru, Trucha needed police escort to avoid angry fans.
However, he says he is happy being at the AFC Leopards and that many coaches would love to be in the situation he finds himself in.
“Coaching these clubs comes with a lot of pressure. I like that feeling because it is a challenge for me. I like to be on the field. I love these games.
“Many coaches would love to be in this situation, and I am happy to be here. It is a privilege and a big honour to be part of this club. I want to give the best with my players to succeed,” he added.
He also asked the fans to attend games in order to support the team.
“It is evident from the numbers in the stadium that we have the best attended matches and the best fans in the country. Our fans turn up for our matches in numbers and have been supporting us all through.
“Please come again in numbers; let us fill the stadium. As our fans, you are doing an amazing job, and it is our turn to go for the maximum points in our matches,” he concluded.
