A teacher at St Aquinas Madende High School in Busia County has been arrested after he lured a female KCSE candidate and raped her.
The teacher, Geoffrey Namanya Osogo, 29, lured the candidate out of school to yet to be established location where he raped her before returning her to his house within the school compound.
Preliminary investigations by the Nambale Sub-County security committee shows that the incident happened on Tuesday between 8pm and 10pm.
The following day, the student reported to the school principal Clement Kudaka who in turn informed the authorities and the Sub-County director of Education.
The victim, who was to finish her exams tomorrow, was then taken to Nambale Sub-County for examination where reports indicate that she had actually been defiled.
The teacher, who was then supervising KCSE examinations at Canon Awori secondary school, was arrested and forensic examination conducted on his vehicle and house.
This year alone, dozens of teachers have been arrested for defiling their students.
Last month, two teachers from Ndutumi Secondary school in Muranga wewe arrested on allegations of defiling a Form One student.
The girl was defiled by the school’s deputy principal and when she reported the matter to her class teacher, he also defiled her.
She then reported the matter to the school principal who informed the authorities.
The incident, according to the police, happened on a Sunday when the day scholars at the school had left while the boarders were on a break.
In another incident in September this year, a teacher defiled and impregnated a Class 7 pupil at Lobarishereki primary school.
Reports indicate that such cases were common since no action was taken against the perpetrators in the past
