Sven Yidah signed by South African side
Kenyan midfielder Sven Yidah has completed a move to the South African side Marumo Gallants, the club has confirmed.
Yidah who has been training with the side was confirmed at the club on Friday and will be hoping to make his debut on Sunday as the Polokwane-based side seeks to pick its first win of the season against Royal AM in the league campaign.
“Marumo Gallants would like to welcome the 23-year-old Kenyan international Sven Yidah. Sven is a former Nairobi City Stars holding midfielder and current Kenyan national squad player. As a club, we would like to wish him the best, ” Gallants announced.
Early career
Sven began his career at Ligi Ndogo S.C. Academy before joining FC Kariobangi Sharks in January 2016 for a four-year contract. He extended his contract with the club at the end of the 2018 season for another three years, until the end of the 2021 season.
He left Kariobangi Sharks before the end of his contract to join Nairobi City Stars on a two-year contract in September 2020.
Sven is best known for his unique penalty celebrations against Mbao FC in the 2019 Sportpesa Super Cup, which became a worldwide sensation. He did the same after scoring a penalty against Everton in the Sportpesa exhibition match.
Sven accolades
He has several accolades to his name, in 2016 he won the National Super League with Kariobangi Sharks before winning the GOTV Shield two years later. Yidah was part of the squad that won the Kenyan Super Cup at the start of the 2018/19 season and scooped the Sportpesa Cup with Sharks in 2019 to book a date against Everton.
