United Democratic Alliance (UDA) are putting final touches on a scheme to throw out Secretary General, Cleopas Malala as divisions within its ranks continue to widen.

Two groups have already set the ball rolling and yesterday, in separate meetings with journalists, they called out Malala. One of the groups under the banner of UDA lobby demanded that he decamps to a political outfit of his choice or resign as the party’s spokesman.

The second group under the UDA Founding Members Association (UFMA) slogan literally announced that Malala is no longer the Party’s Secretary General, and the resolution had the party’s top hierarchy blessing.

Douglas Shiyuka, the national chairman, UDA Lobby Groups gave Malala 14 days’ notice to publicly disassociate himself with the Tawe Movement that has popularly been linked with Trans Nzoia Governor, George Natembeya, or ship out.

“We call upon the UDA Secretary General, Cleophas Mala to stop undermining the leadership of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi and the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula,” he said in a press conference at the UDA head office, stating that the Luhya community has confidence in their leadership.

Shiyuka emphasised that Malala has failed as the party spokesman, and the party leaders, hence members of UDA have lost confidence in his performance as its secretary general.

“We shall be giving a way forward after the lapse of the 14 days from today,” he said.

On Monday, Malala hosted Natembeya and former Sports Cabinet Secretary, Rashid, Echesa in Kakamega in what the lobbyists see as a betrayal of the UDA party leadership in the Western region.
