Kisii County government has been rocked with controversy following the sudden resignation of the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Public Service, County Administration and Public Participation, Dr Alfred Ndemo.
In his resignation letter, Ndemo cited frustrations that have made it impossible for him to work with Governor Simba Arati.
“You have deliberately refused to address my grievances despite efforts to reach you,” reads part of the resignation letter.
Ndemo who survived impeachment in May at the County Assembly claimed he was frustrated, demeaned and humiliated, terming it untenable. In the letter made available to the media through social media, he alleged that he had left due to poor leadership at the county government.
Ndemo had previously served as the CEC for Youth, Sports, Culture, Arts and Special Services before he was moved to the Trade, Tourism, Industry and Marketing docket and later to the Public Service, County Administration, Public Participation docket.
County maladministration
He said his resignation will take immediate effect, citing a desire to distance himself from what he described as the governor’s maladministration.
“To exonerate myself from your maladministration, I have, on this 4th day of November 2024, resigned as a County Executive Committee Member, Kisii County Government, effective immediately,” the letter read.
He labelled the Kisii County government under Arati as a “sinking ship,” saying it has been plagued by mismanagement, with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and county ministers under constant pressure, unable to implement changes or execute their mandates effectively.
“Simba is surrounded by impossibilities. MCAs are under intense pressure, and county ministers cannot implement or change anything,’’ Ndemo said, threatening to release more information on his resignation.
“I’m going to release every detail as to why I have resigned. I have lost friends, I created enemies but I have been persevering for long, troubled, and abused left, right, and center. I’m tired, and I regret joining the Simba Arati administration,” he stated.
“I delivered exemplary results during my tenure in Trade. However, as my positive impact became more evident, the governor and his allies distanced themselves from me,” he said.
