The National Government has taken over key functions at the Nairobi County government.

In a statement to newsroom on Tuesday, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said the agreement was signed by Governor Mike Sonko and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi.

“The National Government therefore, will take over the following functions of the Nairobi County Government: county health services, county transport services, county public works, utilities and ancillary services and county government planning and development,” the statement reads in part.

This comes as Sonko faces Sh357 million graft case.
