Kenyan Premier League outfit Ulinzi Stars FC has officially confirmed the appointment of Coach Stephen Ocholla as the club’s Interim Head Coach, marking his return to the team in a leadership capacity.

The announcement comes shortly after the departure of the club’s head coach, Danstun Nyaudo, who was relieved of his duties with immediate effect after recording a string of poor results with the Soldiers, according to a statement issued by the club’s management on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Ocholla’s appointment

In a statement seen by People Daily Digital on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Ulinzi Stars expressed delight at welcoming back Coach Ocholla, describing him as a seasoned football professional who brings a “wealth of experience and leadership.”

Ocholla, a familiar name in Kenyan football, has previously served both as a player and coach, making him well-versed with the local football landscape and the culture of Ulinzi Stars.

The club highlighted Ocholla’s deep understanding of the game, emphasising his discipline, commitment to excellence, and strong leadership qualities. These traits, the statement noted, align perfectly with the values and vision of Ulinzi Stars FC as they seek to regain form and stability in the ongoing season.

“We warmly welcome Coach Ocholla back to the Ulinzi family and wish him every success as he leads the team into a new chapter,” the management said in the statement.

Coach Ocholla’s return is expected to inject renewed motivation and tactical direction into the squad as they aim to strengthen their performance in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after starting the new season on a shaky note. His first assignment will come on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, when the team takes on Bidco United in a league clash.

Nyaudo sacked

In the official statement, Ulinzi Stars expressed gratitude to Coach Nyaudo for his dedication, professionalism, and service to the team during his tenure. The club acknowledged his commitment both on and off the pitch, noting that his contributions had been instrumental in shaping the team’s competitive spirit.

“The management appreciates Coach Nyaudo’s dedication, professionalism, and service to the team both on and off the pitch during his time in charge,” read part of the statement.

Ulinzi Stars also extended its sincere gratitude to Nyaudo for his efforts and wished him the very best in his future endeavours. Nyaudo’s last stint with Ulinzi Stars came on Sunday, October 26, 2025, when Ulinzi Stars were hammered 3-1 by Kakamega Homeboys in a league fixture played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
