Tusker midfielder Chrispine Erambo has explained why his call to Harambee Stars is not a surprise to him at all.
Erambo, a defensive midfielder signed by the former Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions from Mombasa Elite, was named in the Harambee Stars provisional squad that is preparing for the Four-Nations tournament in Malawi this month.
Since arriving at Premier League territory from the National Super League, the combative defensive midfielder has turned into one of the key players in coach Robert Matano’s set-up.
Given his performances, he says that the Harambee Stars’ call-up, given by head coach Engin Firat, was not a surprise.
“I am really happy because this is a great opportunity for exposure for me. I am thankful for the opportunity. This has been my ambition since I joined the team, and I am delighted that it has finally come true.
“I was not surprised when I got the call because I had been working really hard and I knew it would come,” Erambo said, as quoted by the club’s website.
Secret
He shared the secret that has helped him perform better despite being a new signing for Tusker from the lower league.
“The biggest thing in football is consistency, and this is what has helped me since I came to Tusker. Every game I have had the ambition to be better, and that is why this call-up has come. I don’t think there will be a challenge for me because this is a great opportunity and I am ready to take it.
“I will keep doing what I have been doing in the team, work harder, and have the same spirit, and I know this will not be the last call-up. Others will come,” the midfielder added.
Erambo is expected to join the other players on Friday in order to start training camp.
