By Kiplagat Sang, January 16, 2025
Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed is confident that the country will be in a position to deliver an unforgettable CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) edition come August.
Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania were set to host the event in February this year, but it was postponed to August after CAF cited numerous reasons why it had to reschedule the showpiece.
Meanwhile, CAF conducted the draw for the 2024 edition in Nairobi on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and Mohammed was part of the congregation that witnessed the event at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
The new FKF chief said the focus now shifts to August and stated that the rescheduling will help in finishing up the remaining infrastructural works going on at the stadiums.
“Honoured to host the CHAN 2024 draw in Nairobi yesterday, a proud moment for African football. Co-hosting with Tanzania and Uganda showcases our shared commitment to the game.
“The shift to August gives us time to improve infrastructure and ensure CHAN leaves a lasting legacy. Grateful to CAF, FIFA, and the governments of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania for their trust and support.
“The journey begins now – let’s work together to deliver an unforgettable tournament!” Mohammed said in a statement on X posted on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
