Teenager Kibet wins Kenya’s first Indoor Championship medal, Omanyala bows out

Teenage sensation Noah Kibet bags Kenya its first medal in the World Indoor Championships.

17-year-old Kibet finished second in the men’s 800 metres Final to claim the silver medal. With a time of 1:46:35, the World Under-20 bronze medalist chased behind winner Mariano Garcia of Spain who timed 1:46.20.

Meanwhile, the fastest man in Africa, Ferdinand Omanyala, came up short to have his day end after failing to proceed to the 60-metres finals.

The national record holder clocked 6.64 seconds to finish fourth in his heat that was won by USA’s Marvin Bracy who came home in 6.51 seconds.
