It will be the first time that the Dominican Republic, which will also be taking part in the tournament, will be hosting a FIFA event.

Kenya who are set to make their maiden appearance will join Nigeria, who finished third in the 2022 edition of the tournament held in India. Nigeria beat Liberia to book their ticket to the Dominican, making it the seventh time they will be participating in the event.

Zambia, the other African nation to the global showcase held overcame Morocco with a 3-1 aggregate score to book a second appearance in the tournament. Coached by Carol Kanyemba, the Copper Princesses will be keen to improve on their group stage finish last time out at the 2014 edition in Costa Rica.

Top seeds and defending Champions Spain will be eager to continue their exploits in the tournament, having won it in 2018 and 2022. They will be joined by European counterparts England whom they beat 4-0 in the European finals and Poland who finished third and will be making their first appearance in the World Cup.

Spain’s biggest competition however will come from the 2022 runners-up Colombia who will be gracing the tournament for the sixth time and Asian competitors in Japan (2014 champions), North Korea (champions in 2008 and 2016), and South Korea who were Champions in 2010.

2018 finalists Mexico are expected to put up a fight alongside Brazil, Ecuador, and New Zealand.

This will be the last year the tournament will be played by 16 teams as FIFA looks to increase participating teams to 24 ahead of the next edition.
