Strathmore disarm Spartans in men’s handball league

Strathmore men’s handball Team dominated against Spartans in a League encounter to win 31-14 in convincing fashion at the Nyayo Stadium Sunday.
Kevin Mwangi weighed in with eighth solo goals with the pair of Shadrack Lenku and Brian Murangiri on five apiece as they tore their opponents almost into shreds.
By first half break, Strathmore were leading 12-5 with Spartans literally struggling to cope with the pressure. Philip Mumo was also instrumental in field play assists and contributed with his own four goals on the board.
Strathmore were more fluid and mobile in all four corners of the pitch both offensively and defensively as they frustrated the opponents to minimal threat. Brian Mwinami led for Spartans in the score sheet with six goals while Samson Mukui had three to his name. It was hard for Spartans to break even for most of the match as they were constantly pinned in their own half. Following the result,16th placed Spartans remain winless in four matches but with almost six games in hand.
Strathmore are fourth on the log with 16 points off 10 matches played so far this season.
Meanwhile, in another one-sided mens encounter, Ulinzi overpowered Desert Scorpions 47-12 with the duo of Nicholas Ireri and Kelvin Immo combining for 23 goals in the match. Scorpions hardly had a straight shot on goal as their sting strength completely went blank in the duel. Ireri in particular was a thorn in the flesh of Scorpions as his quick darts and shots proved too much for the opposing defense.

Gedion Mulwa on nine goals was also an important figure as he contributed his own nine goals for Ulinzi with Abel Weru on four. As for Scorpions,their top scorer was Wilson Gathimba with five goals as the tight knot defense of Ulinzi told. George Agoko and Anthony Wanami contributed with two goals apiece. Elsewhere, in the Ladies Championship, National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) out-muscled Kenyatta University 39-18 with Sheryl Atieno leading the charge with nine goals. The duo of Sarah Maboga and Purity Nyangweso weighed in with seven goals each with Dinnah Kerubo scoring five.
