Reigning East African Darts Champions, Stima Darts Club, are set to defend their title for the fourth consecutive time at the Uganda International Darts Open.
This tournament will be held in Kampala from September 13 to 15, 2024.
During this tour, the team will also compete in the East Africa Darts Federation Inter-States competition, featuring teams from Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and the host, Uganda.
Speaking at a flag-off ceremony for the team held yesterday, Stima Darts Club Manager David Songok noted that the club’s consistent positive performance in national and regional tournaments has solidified its reputation as the best darts club in the region.
“We are ready to defend our title in Uganda and bring it back for the fourth consecutive time. The team has undergone intense training in preparation for the upcoming competition, and we are confident that we will emerge as the best,” he stated.
The Uganda darts competitions will be the third event for Stima Darts Club this year, following successful appearances in Tanzania and South Africa.
In June, the club successfully defended its best team title for the third time at the Tanzania International Darts Open tournament held in Dodoma.
Before this, the team had won in the men’s and ladies’ singles categories during the Africa Darts Continental Tour held in Cape Town, South Africa.
Stima Darts Club is sponsored by Kenya Power. The company is keen on nurturing sports talent through various sponsorships under its social welfare programs.
During yesterday’s flag-off ceremony, Stima Darts Club presented its recently won trophies to Kenya Power.
“The Stima Darts Club has proven that they are the best in East Africa. The company is proud to be associated with the team, and we will continue to support them in achieving more. As they leave for Kampala, we wish them well and expect them to put their best foot forward in the highly competitive tournament,” stated Kenya Power’s Principal Human Resource Officer, Faith Kaberenge.
