Shikanda promises Aussems return at AFC

AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has assured the club’s faithful that coach Patrick Aussems will return to lead the side to trophies in the new campaign.

The 58-year-old Belgian tactician left Ingwe for his native country with three matches remaining to conclude the season and this sparked debate he had severed ties with the Kenyan giants.

Aussems, whose contract with Ingwe is due to end in July, was not in charge when AFC Leopards suffered a 2-1 away defeat against relegated Vhiga Bullets, the 2-1 defeat against Sofapaka, and the 1-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks on the final day of the season.

Shikanda has now come out to allay fears that Aussems had overseen his last game with AFC insisting the coach will return to sign a new deal in readiness for the new campaign.

“He (Aussems) travelled home for family issues but he will definitely return to take charge of the team next season,” said Shikanda, adding: “We as the management of AFC have trust in the coach, he has the qualities to guide our team, and he will soon return to take us forward.”
