The Lions and the Cheetahs are set to clash in the Rugby Super Series final scheduled for Saturday RFUEA Grounds.

Buffaloes and Rhinos face off in the third place playoffs. The Lions secured their spot in the final with a hard-fought victory over the Buffaloes, thanks in large part to Levy Amunga's impressive performance.

Rugby Super Series win

In a thrilling encounter, Levy Amunga showcased his kicking prowess by booting 15 crucial points, guiding the Lions to a hard-fought 20-5 victory over the Buffaloes.

Both teams, Lions and Buffaloes, had their eyes set on the finals, having secured victories over the Rhinos in their previous matches. The Buffaloes, buoyed by their recent triumph against the Rhinos, were eager to secure their spot in front of their home crowd.

The Lions started strong, with Derrick Wechulo crossing the try line early on to give them a 5-0 lead. Levy Amunga extended their lead with a penalty goal, making it 8-0. Despite Buffaloes' efforts with Hillary Salano's try, narrowing the score to 11-5, Amunga's accurate kicking kept the Lions in control.

As the game progressed, Amunga's precise penalties extended the Lions' lead to 20-5, putting the Buffaloes under immense pressure.

However, with the intensification of rain and the looming risk of lightning, the match was called off during the final quarter, with the Lions leading.

With the win, the Lions aim to redeem themselves after a recent defeat to the Cheetahs.

Rhinos win

Meanwhile, the Rhinos secured their first victory of the series, edging past a resilient Cheetahs side 27-23 in Kakamega.

The Rhinos, determined to bounce back from two previous losses, started strongly, capitalizing on Cheetahs' errors. Ryan Odua and Victor Odhiambo scored early tries for the Rhinos, but the Cheetahs fought back, leveling the scores at 10-10 before halftime.

In the second half, the Cheetahs' resurgence saw them take a 23-20 lead, but a late try from Paul Mutsami secured the Rhinos' victory, marking their first win of the Rugby Super Series.
