Relegation battles will headline the three matches left on the FKFPL roster as Shabana, Muhoroni, Talanta and Sofapaka play out for league safety.

Two things are clear; Gor Mahia are champions while Nzoia are certain of not being part of the league next season.

Only one puzzle remains unsolved ahead of match week 32: Who joins Nzoia in the journey back to the National Super League?

Relegation candidates

The top contenders for relegation are Muhoroni Youth who are a place above Nzoia in the log, Shabana, Talanta and Sofapaka respectively.

Only four points separate the four teams, setting up a fascinating relegation battle as the league approaches its climax.

Shabana's case

Shabana have managed two draws, a win and two losses in their past five fixtures, losing on the road to Kariobangi Sharks in their last match. A rather complex three fixtures await the Kisii-based side who have been forced to play all their matches away from their home support this season.

Upon league resumption, they will host AFC Leopards, before welcoming Bidco at the Raila Odinga Stadium before wrapping their season away to Murang’a Seal, a repeat of the league’s opening fixture (Seals won by a solitary goal) only this time at the St Sebastian Park.

Batoto ba Mungu

Sofapaka has won just one of their past five fixtures, losing to Police, Shabana and Sharks and sharing points with Bandari. Sofapaka have never been relegated from the league since 2009 when they made a statement by winning the league as newbies.

Batoto ba Mungu will host Gor Mahia, and make a short trip to Nairobi City Stars before wrapping their campaign at home to an already condemned Nzoia.

Talanta

Talanta have won only once in their past seven matches, their best result a draw that came against Shabana in a relegation dogfight in Homa Bay.

Winning has remained largely evasive for the side since sacking veteran coach Ken Kenyatta and they will need positive results against Muhoroni and champions Gor Mahia in away fixtures before closing the season at home against fourth-placed Bandari who have been blowing cold recently.

Muhoroni

Muhoroni occupies one of the two relegation spots, way clear of last-placed Nzoia and one point below Shabana who are on 29 points. Relegation escape is well within reach, their recent form the only worrying factor.

Having played six matches without a win so far, Muhoroni will remain hopeful of better tidings with relatively manageable fixtures on the horizon.

First up against relegation threatened Talanta, then Nzoia before finishing the season against Posta Rangers at home.
