Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga will attend the Safari 7s final at the RFUEA Ground on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Kenya's Shujaa progressed to the final and are on course to defend the title, and one of the fans at the stands will be Odinga cheering them on in what is expected to be a high-octane, mouth-watering showdown.

The former Prime Minister is a known sports enthusiast who has also been attending football matches, especially the Mashemeji Derby, a fixture that pits Kenya's famous and most successful clubs; AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.

Meanwhile, Shujaa booked their place at the ultimate stage after beating Germany in the semis. The defending champions claimed a 19-5 win over the Europeans.

Germany registered the opening try that gave them a 5-0 lead before Shujaa solidified and mounted a comeback. The evergreen Vincent Onyala registered the opener that was converted for a 7-5 lead in favour of Kenya.

Patrick Odongo's offload that set up Tony Omondi for a try extended Kenya's lead, although they did not manage a successful conversion. Brian Mutungi scored the final try for Shujaa, but Kevin Wekesa failed to convert the try.

The final against Samurai is expected to be a tight one given the calibre and quality that both sides boast.

Samurai progressed to the final after beating Uganda 21-19. Their resilience and resurgence in the final moments of the thrilling encounter were all that gave them the win.

The match was tied at 7-7 at the break, proving how tight the game was before Alex Aturinda converted a try for the East Africans, and the Samurai fought back and remained toe-to-toe against their rivals.

Adrian Kasito gave Uganda a further try for a 19-14 lead, but Samurai did not surrender and fought for an ultimate 21-19 victory.
