National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix and Blades are among men’s  Division One and Premier League teams that won their play-off games, qualifying for Kenya Basketball Federation  (KBF) weekend semi-finals at Nyayo Gymnasium.

Bungoma-based women’s Division One side, Swifts, completed the league in the ninth position, above the relegation zone occupied by Nairobi side KCA University and Kakamega-based Western Delights.

Swifts coach Charles Anjeho, told People Sport yesterday that he plans to beef up the team, next season and is determined to finish in the top four position.

In the Division One men’s three series play-offs, NBK Phoenix lost 56-83 against home Kisumu City side Lakeside and recovered poise winning the next two games against Lakeside, narrowly 67-63, away at Nyayo Gymnasium, Nairobi and 83-62, winning the series to qualify for this weekend’s KBF semi-final, to face off against Stanbic at Nyayo.

At the same venue, women’s Division One Stanbic clipped Eagle Wings 52-30 to book a semi-final berth and will battle it out with the victors in the game between  Strathmore Swords and Butere Girls High School.

Another Division One women’s team Safe Spaces floored Footprints 63-52 at Nyayo and qualified for semis and will square out with either Zetech University or Kisumu Lady Bucks, which nestles around Lake Victoria.
