Kenyan Primary Schools to benefit from FIFA donations
By Collins Amanga, August 14, 2023In an exciting development for young football enthusiasts across Kenya, selected primary schools are set to receive footballs and valuable in-kind donations courtesy of the World Governing Body FIFA.
This initiative was revealed by FKF President Nick Mwendwa during the culminating day of the primary schools’ games held at Kisumu Boys School on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
FIFA contribution
Aiming to nurture the grassroots talent pool and encourage active participation in the beautiful game, FIFA’s contribution will extend beyond material donations.
Teachers entrusted with guiding these aspiring athletes will be given preferential access to coaching courses facilitated by the Federation.

This training will empower educators to orchestrate more effective football and life skills training sessions. Additionally, teachers will be granted access to the FIFA Football for Schools application, a resource designed to aid in structuring comprehensive football training sessions infused with essential life skills.
Mwendwa emphasized the importance of focusing on primary schools, recognizing that children under the age of 15 spend a substantial portion of their time in educational institutions.
During the awards ceremony commemorating the achievements of standout performers in the recent games, Mwendwa shared that the primary school tournaments will serve as a critical platform for identifying talent. Exceptional players will be scouted to join the U15 Kenyan team, set to represent the nation in the CAF African Schools Football Championship. The upcoming championship is scheduled to take place in Kenya this November.
FIFA program
The FIFA Football For Schools program, a collaborative venture between FIFA and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), aims to democratize football access for both girls and boys across the globe.
The program not only seeks to enhance football skills but also prioritizes imparting essential life skills and competencies. This synergizes with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other key objectives.

As primary school students and aspiring football stars embark on this exciting journey, the generous support from FIFA promises to be a game-changer, fostering growth, and nurturing talent within Kenya’s football landscape.
