Football Kenya Premier League side Shabana FC will be up to continue their flying start to the league as they visit Bandari FC in a rescheduled clash on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Mbaraki Sports Club.

The two teams approach the FKF PL week 2 ties on mixed fortunes, with the Glamour Boys riding high on their opening day emphatic 4-2 victory over APS Bomet on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Harambee Stars ace Brian Michira inspired the hosts to the huge win with a brace against the KPL newbies.

Michira, who has been one of the team’s standout players in recent months, wasted no time in stamping his authority, scoring in the 2nd minute.

He sealed his brace inside the opening 12 minutes, setting the tone for the massive victory.

Meanwhile, Bandari FC under coach Ken Odhiambo look to get their campaign up and running after opening the run on a share of spoils against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday, September 21, at the Kasarani Annex.

Bandari held in opener

Despite their slight dominance, Ken Odhiambo’s team failed to come away with victory as Sharks’ defence put up an inspired display, with custodian Sebastian Wekesa proving instrumental as the last line of defence at goal.

With the odds seemingly favouring the high-flying visitor, the hosts will be keen to exploit the lapses noted in the defensive department of Peter Okidi’s team.

In what could prove the tie’s tipping point, the visitors showed signs of caving under immense pressure, as witnessed in the couple of goals conceded in their opening tie.

Okidi after the win

Following the win, Okidi attributed the success to the presence of the 12th man, and it remains to be seen how the visitors fare on without the huge sea of home supporters in Mombasa.

“My gratitude goes to everyone who has been supporting Shabana in all forms, including prayers. Without the fans, we can’t. The win is because of teamwork from the fans, management, the technical bench, and the playing unit,” Okidi said.

Among the players to watch is Michira, who will be eager to carry on his scoring run of two goals so far. David Sakwa of the Dockers will also be among those expected to star as the home side ventures out for its maiden league win.
