Pools confirmed for 2025 Prinsloo 7s as teams prepare for kickoff
By Kenneth Mwenda, July 28, 2025The pools for the 2025 Prinsloo Sevens have been confirmed, setting the stage for another thrilling weekend of rugby action. The tournament, which serves as the second leg of the 2025 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit, will be hosted at the Nakuru Athletic Club from Saturday, August 2 to Sunday, August 3.
Fresh from the drama of the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa, where KCB Rugby narrowly edged Strathmore Leos 15-14 to claim the title, attention now shifts to Nakuru for what promises to be another competitive outing.
Pool A
Hosts Nakuru RFC, buoyed by their semi-final appearance at Driftwood, headline this group. They are joined by Kenya Harlequin, who will be keen to bounce back after a disappointing quarter-final exit, as well as Stallions and MSC Rugby.
Pool B
Defending Prinsloo champions Strathmore Leos will be out to prove a point after narrowly missing out on the Driftwood crown. They find themselves in a tricky group alongside Menengai Oilers, Daystar Falcons, and Zetech Oaks. The Leos have shown strong form and will be favourites to top the pool, but Oilers will pose a real challenge.

Pool C
KCB RFC, who remain unbeaten in the 2025 series after their victories over Menengai Oilers, Kabras, and Strathmore, headline this group. They will face Nondescripts, CUEA (Catholic Monks), and Kisumu RFC. With star players like Floyd Wabwire and Elvis Olukusi in form, the Bankers will be confident of another strong performance.
Pool D
Kabras Sugar RFC, who claimed third place at Driftwood after beating Nakuru 21-10, lead this pool. They are joined by MMUST, Impala RFC, and Mwamba RFC. Kabras will look to build momentum and challenge for the top prize after falling short in Mombasa.
Fixtures and the full match schedule are expected to be released in the coming days. All eyes will be on whether KCB can continue their dominant run, or if Leos, Kabras, or even a surprise team can upset the odds.
With competitive lineups across the board and several key players hitting top form, fans can expect another weekend of fast-paced sevens rugby in the Rift Valley.
The Prinsloo 7s marks the second of six scheduled legs in this year’s circuit.
