Kenya Police grabbed a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup campaign for next season after beating KCB FC 8-7 in a post-match penalty shootout in the Football Kenya Federation Cup final.

The match held at Ulinzi Sports Complex ended in a goalless draw, forcing the winner to be decided from the spotkicks. Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was the hero for the cops after saving penalties taken by Collins Neto and Shadrack Simiyu.

Meanwhile, the game was equally balanced in the opening 10 minutes before Philemon Nyakwaka could force Matasi into a quick intervention in the 15th minute.

The Police had their chances to break the deadlock, but two went out: one by Clinton Kinanga and the other by David Owino.
A combination between Neto and Henry Onyango almost gave the Bankers an opener, but the former misdirected his header even though he was in a good position to find the back of the net.

Nyakwaka did well to spot Danson Namaskha in a good goalscoring position after the second half had just begun, but the former Bandari player could not beat Matasi in a one-on-one situation.

Police answered the KCB's attacks by pressing the opponents, and they almost grabbed a goal after a neat combination between Francis Kahata and Charles Ouma. However, the cops yet again could not find the back of the net, as the chance was wasted.

Shootouts

Finally, Danson Chetambe, Collins Neto, Francis Oduor, Bernard Odhiambo, Stephen Etyang, Kevin Okumu, and Atariza Mungai converted for the Bankers, while Shadrack Simiyu and David Okoth missed their shootouts.

Musa Mohamed, Rashid Toha, Kinanga, Kenneth Muguna, Tyson Otieno, David Owino, Aboud Omar, and Matasi scored for Kenya Police.

Apart from securing the Confederation ticket, Kenya Police will earn Ksh2 million as a cash prize from the cup's sponsors.
