Ondinyo replaces Brian Busu at Embakasi

Joseph Ondinyo has taken over as Embakasi Youth Basketball Association (EMYBA) head coach following the exit Brian Busu ahead of the new season.
Under Busu, EMYBA reached the Kenya Basketball Federation premier league play-off semi-finals in their debut season in 2019 where they fell to Nairobi City Thunder.
Ondinyo, who has been working alongside Busu in the technical bench, will now be assisted by veteran team player Byron Erude and coach-cum-player Abel Nson.
According to Ondinyo, EMYBA will maintain the core squad that helped them make an impressive debut last season as none of the players has expressed intentions to leave.
He however said the team was ready to revamp before their plans were put on hold due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
“When we are given the greenlight to begin team training, the recruitment process will begin.
This was supposed to happen in the first leg of the season but a lot has changed since March so we will start recruiting immediately.
We are looking for a more dynamic offense, improve on rebounding and we need to find players who are good at perimeter shooting.
That will give us the much needed depth and edge to do one better and reach the final after an impressive debut,” said Ondinyo.
