Omanyala in search for glory at global arena

By , April 27, 2022

National 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala will be battling at all fronts this season in order to bag a major global title.

Omanyala said he sees an opportunity in the delayed Senior Africa Athletics Championships in Reduit, Mauritius slated for 8th to 12th June.

“There is no championship I am leaving out. I will be tackling each one of them. With the form I am in, I am going to the Africa championship full of confidence,” said Omanyala admitting that it bothers him being the African record holder without a title.

“Questions will be asked – record holder then what? I want to challenge myself to hit the height and I know I can achieve,” he added.

World Athletics Championships that will be held from July 15 to 24 in Eugene, United States of America and the Commonwealth Games scheduled for July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, England are his other targets.

Omanyala breezed to the men’s 100m semis after clocking 9.9 seconds during the Athletics Kenya Track and Field National Championships at Kasarani yesterday.
