Olympic silver medalist Prisca Jeptoo will be a star attraction during the Haspa Marathon in Humburg, Germany on April 24.

Jeptoo who trains at the 2-Running Club training camp in Kapsabet, Nandi County has won marathons in Paris and Turin and has a personal best of 2:20:14 for the distance, set when she finished third in the 2012 London marathon.

This performance earned her a place on the Kenyan Olympic team. She was the marathon silver medalist at the World Championships in Athletics in 2011. She began competing at high-level competitions in 2008 and made it to the top ten women at the Saint Silvester Road Race that year.

Her 2009 began with two wins in Portugal, at the Douro-Tal Half Marathon and then the Corrida Festas Cidade do Porto 15K race.

The 37-year old also won a silver medal in the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu, finishing at 2:29:00, placed second behind Edna Kiplagat. Jeptoo was part of a Kenyan sweep of the medals, with Sharon Cherop taking the bronze, making it the first time Kenya had taken all the medals in the World Championships.

“I have prepared well and I’m determined to win even though it will be a tough battle because I know I will be competing with some of the best in the world but in the end, there will be a winner,” Jeptoo told People Sport.
