Ogembo leads fearless four to victory

Enock Ogembo led his four-ball team of Eleanor Wambui, John Kibet and MM Macharia to victory after returning a combined 114 points to win the KCB East Africa Golf Tour event held at the par-73 Nakuru Golf Club on Saturday, July 12, 2025. 

The triumphant team edged out the quartet of Stephen Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi and William Kariuki, who managed a combined 111 points to finish runners-up in the highly competitive tournament that attracted 228 players. 

Speaking after lifting the team trophy, an elated Ogembo credited teamwork and practice for their success: “We have been preparing for this, and I am glad our efforts paid off. Tomorrow [Sunday], we head to another tournament to sharpen our skills. We will bring the cup home at the tour’s grand finale.” 

In the individual categories, handicap 28 golfer Stephen Ibwaga emerged overall winner after carding 44 stableford points, edging out handicap 19 Francis Wanjohi, who took the men’s title with 41 points. 

Among the ladies, handicap 15 Eleanor Wambui impressed with 38 points to claim top honours, while handicap 11 Ibrahim Lande won the staff category after carding 39 points, narrowly beating handicap 25 Anthony Mulisa on countback. 

In the juniors’ category, Cassius Pennington, playing off handicap 21, posted 43 points to take the title, as Njoro Golf Club’s William Kariuki (17) emerged guest winner with 41 points.  

Dr Terra Saidimu and Florence Wafula claimed the longest drive awards in the men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively. 

As part of its broader golf series initiative, KCB hosted a juniors’ golf clinic on Sunday at the same venue to nurture young talent, alongside a tree-planting drive aimed at promoting sustainability.
