Nzoia Sugar beat Kariobangi Sharks to move out of danger zone as Talanta floor Sofapaka
By Joel Sang, November 4, 2023Nzoia Sugar scored a late goal to pick up a vital 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Sudi Stadium on Saturday, October 4, 2023.
The Sugar Millers had not won in each of their last nine games, and the result against the Nairobi Eastlands club is a big boost in their bid to climb the ladder. On the other hand, Kariobangi Sharks were looking to return to winning ways after their previous goalless draw against AFC Leopards.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Osoro, a second-half substitute, scored the only goal that separated the sides in Bungoma. The scorer, with tangible composure, managed to beat the Sharks’ goalkeeper, Bernard Jairo, before he slotted into an almost empty net.
The win is crucial for Godfrey Oduor and his charges, as the three points collected at home move them from the danger zone to the 14th position.
Nzoia will play Shabana in their next game, and given Tore Bobe’s recent form, they should be hopeful for yet another win when they travel to Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay. After going down, Kariobangi Sharks will train their eyes on Bandari, whom they meet in week eleven’s matchday action.

Sofapaka fall
Meanwhile, Sofapaka were unable to register another victory as they conceded a 3-0 loss to Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Batoto ba Mungu were targeting a back-to-back victory after their last 3-0 win over KCB but were unable to as Talanta showed great determination to win.
Talanta scored the opening goal in the 56th minute when Augustine Kuta found the back of the net, before the second one was added by experienced former Posta Rangers and Tusker forward Danson Kago, who scored in the 83rd minute.
Kevinton Machika scored the third in the 90th minute to ensure Ken Kenyatta’s side managed a famous win over the former Premier League champions. Machika, given his output throughout the game, was named man of the match.
Sofapaka, who have struggled to have a consistent run of positive results, will face Kakamega Homeboyz next as Talanta now shift focus to their upcoming match against Muhoroni Youth.
