NSL sides Muranga Seal and Shabana close in on playoffs

By , July 16, 2022

Muranga Seals’ fine run continued Thursday following a 3-0 drubbing of Mombasa Elite FC to move to 61 points with two matches in hand with Shabana FC posting its 15th win of the campaign.

The Seals are on their speed run and look to disappoint the form book with all eyes on the second automatic promotion spot.

Seals have 19 wins in 34 matches with four wins in the past five games with a single loss. With a goal difference of +17, the fourth-placed side has the second-best aggregate in the league behind newly minted champions APS Bomet FC.

The Sportpesa-sponsored Central Kenya team have another fight in their hands which is for supremacy against third-placed Fortune Sacco based in cross-town County Kirinyaga.

The pair have had an interesting beef for the past two seasons and it remains interesting who will get the promotion nod ahead of the other. With only two points separating the duo, the Seals seemed hungrier with a better win rate over Sacco plus also a superior goal difference as at present with Seal on 54 goals against 39 for Sacco.
