AFC Leopards SC have announced the nominees for the Player of the Year award ahead of the club’s gala event scheduled for August 21, 2024.
Cliffton Miheso, who captained the team in several matches towards the end of the season and led the club in assists, has been nominated alongside midfielder Kayci Odhiambo, fullback Vincent Mahiga, and attacker Victor Omune.
AFC Leopards awards categories
The winner will be determined by a panel reviewing their season statistics. The Gala Awards, organized by the U45 Unit Branch, also include categories such as Player’s Player of the Year, Fan’s Player of the Year, Fan of the Year, and Best Branch of the Year, with fans voting for the latter three.
This initiative aims to appreciate the players of AFC Leopards’ Senior Team, AFC Leopards Ladies, and AFC Youth Team, as well as the fans.
The awards come after AFC Leopards turned their season around, finishing fourth in the FKF Premier League with 13 wins, 12 draws, and 10 losses. Under coach Thomas Trucha, the team scored 32 goals and conceded 24.
Meanwhile, the Leopards have resumed training, aiming to improve their performance next season. They have renewed contracts for two players and are working to strengthen the squad.
Ronald Sichenje, who joined AFC Leopards in 2022 but couldn’t feature in his first season due to a transfer ban, has extended his stay after a 6-month loan to Mathare United.
