NOCK elections: Barnabas Korir, Nashon Ombok elected deputy presidents
By Luke Oluoch, July 21, 2025Barnabas Korir and Nashon Ombok have been elected as the first and second deputy presidents of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) in the elections conducted by the IEBC this Monday, July 21, 2025, in Nairobi.
The two will now serve under President Shadrack Maluki, who was also elected in the role, succeeding outgoing president Paul Tergat.
Athletics Kenya National Youth Chairman and outgoing executive member of the NOCK committee, Korir, piped for the role after garnering 15 votes against 12 garnered by the opposing candidate, Anthony Ombok of the Kenya Boxing Federation.
In the second deputy race, Kenya Hockey Union Chairman Nashon Randiek, narrowly clinched the seat after garnering 14 votes against outgoing treasurer Eliud Kariuki, who got 13.

Francis Karugu has also been elected as NOCK’s Deputy Treasurer.
The president of the Kenya Softball Federation beat IOC Athletes’ Commission member and outgoing representative Humphrey Kayange, by a single vote.
John Ogolla is the new Secretary General of the Olympic Committe Body after his being reelected unopposed.
The official from the weightlifting association was among the three candidates who stood unopposed alongside Charles Mose from Cycling, who will be the new deputy treasurer, and legendary athlete Eliud Kipchoge as the male athlete representative.
The new changes at the body herald a fresh start for the Olympic Committee as it seeks a new chapter of leadership in its mandate of driving Kenya’s sports agenda.
Meanwhile, it has proven to be a day of success for the team New Dawn, a group within the NOCK, which sought to lead the body on a promise of a fresh start.
Led by the new president, Shadrack Maluki and other key figures such as Barnaba Korir, and Andrew Mudibo, the team premised its manifesto on youth development within sports federations in Kenya and building a strong foundation for future success.
