NOC-K brings medical practitioners on board in anti-doping crusade
National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) with Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) has partnered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), Kenya Association of Physicians (KAP), Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and University of Nairobi (UON) in conducting sensitization sessions for healthcare providers and medical practitioners regarding anti-doping measures currently in place in sports.
Through these sessions, the practitioners will be enlightened on their role in the fight against the anti-doping menace.
The two athletics federations are capitalising on the medical practitioners’ institutions to access a large number of their members to ensure Kenya’s medical systems support clean athletics.
The first session held on Monday brought together about 200 practitioners registered under the Kenya Association of Physicians.
NOC-K Secretary General Francis Mutuku said the sessions which are being conducted online aim to create awareness in the medical sector to curb doping which is on the rise in Kenya.
