The second round of the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship 15s league took a new dimension at the weekend with newly promoted
Shamas Foundation, astounding their critics by cementing their lead in the
standings.

During a weekend that was dotted with entertaining matches, USIU-A Martials and Mean Machine both registered their first wins of the season, much to the delight of their fans.

Kisumu and Egerton Wasps are rooted at the lower reaches with none of the teams having recorded a single point.

At the Impala Club USIU-A overcame newly promoted Kabarak University 21-15 and as a result secured four precious points.

But it was not Impala all through as newly promoted Kabarak gave as much as they received and duly returned with a losing bonus point.

Kabarak, who were fast on the ball, now sit in the tenth position, a slot behind last season cup semi-finalists Northern Suburbs.

The Martial’s indefatigable centre player Paul Mukhisa bagged a brace to help the team win the lone Nairobi fixture, Tobias Otieno and Allan Odoyo doing the donkey work with a try and conversion respectively.

In the meantime, Shamas Foundation and Catholic Monks registered maximum points without sweat after their would- be opponents Kisumu and Western Bulls failed to avail themselves in Nairobi.
