Naivasha’s Mureu triumphs at 9th edition of NCBA MUG Golf event

James Mureu from Naivasha emerged as the overall winner of the NCBA-sponsored Saturday Monthly Mug at Naivasha Sports Club in Nakuru county.
Playing off handicap 6, Mureu, carded an impressive score of 76 Gross at the tourney that brought together over 70 golfers from Naivasha and its environs.
“I want to commend NCBA and the Naivasha Sports Club for the excellent management of this tournament, the weather was favorable and the grounds well-manicured which I believe is why I was able to play some really good golf and convert those blessings into the rewards received today” said James Mureu, Overall winner at the Naivasha Mug Event.
Claiming the top prize in the Ladies category was Tabitha Kiragu with 36 stableford points ahead of fellow peer Grace Gathungu who settled for 1st runners up with 27 points but also won the prize for the Longest Drive Women, with 2nd runners falling to Janet Mwangi who made it with 25 points.
In the Men’s category Boniface Kangangi fended off stiff competition from his fellow club mate Isaac Kamau emerging the winner with 37 points with a 1-point difference. Jonathan Kiplagat just clinched the 2nd runners up position from Micheal Mugo with 35 points on countback.
Meanwhile, claiming the Guest 1st prize was Margaret Wanjiru with 37 points with a handicap of 37 and Samual Keigi coming in 2nd for the prize with 37 points but with a handicap of 31.
