Mwalala’s Ulinzi tenure kicks off on nice victory

New coach Bernard Mwalala has lauded his boys’ fighting spirit as his side Ulinzi came from behind to pick a crucial 3-1 win against National Super League (NSL) side MCF 3-1 in his first game in-charge of the soldiers at the Elite tournament which entered day two at Kasarani.
MCF scored the first goal in the 22 minute through Tony Nyangor formerly known as Balotieno during his days with premier league giants Gor Mahia, but Ulinzi bounced back to score all the three goals towards the tail end of the match. New signings Boniface Muchiri and Hillary Simiyu both found the back of the net.
Muchiri scored in the 85th minute and Simiyu to respond with a quick brace in the additional minutes.
Mwalala said he loved the level of competitiveness and teaam spirit that was evident in the match.
“I thank the boys for the showing until the last minute where we got three quick goals. I have only worked with them a couple of days but I can already see the fighting spirit in the team,” he said.
Mwalala who took Kakamega Homeboyz to a top two finish finish last sesson before being sacksd was appointed last week to take over the reigns of the club. The 2010 KPL champions have been dismissal last season as they finished 14th on 46 points, their lowest so far.
The elite tpurnament takes a rest tomorrow. When it will resume on Friday Kariobangi Sharks will gace off Bidco as Rainbow face off Sofapaka.
Meanwhile, Nairobi City Star were held to a 1-1 draw by Police Fc. City stars had took the lead through Mohammed Bayo in the first half only for Francis Kahata to equalize.
