Mukami to fight Ngubane for continental middle weight title

Former national women’s boxing middleweight sensation Charity Mukami has finally secured a fight after more than a decade out in the cold due to lack of a promoter.

Speaking during the unveiling of her new sponsors Crimson Communications over the weekend, Mukami sounded unfazed despite having stepped foot in a ring last in 2009 when she lost against Wang Yang Nan from China in Australia.

“ This can only be counted as a blessing and all I hope and pray for is to win. It’s going to be tough but am well prepared for this despite the fight being away in South Africa,” Mukami, who made her professional boxing career debut in August 2007 winning against Batroba Lihavi on unanimous decision, but lost four months later against the legendary Conjestina Achieng in her second pro fight said.

Her promoter Crimson Communications Chief Executive Officer (CEO) James Chunguli has Expressed confidence as Mukami will be vying for the prestigious World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan Africa Women’s Middleweight title against home girl Mapule Ngubane in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

“We as a company are going to do great things and want to promote female boxers in Kenya to greater heights. This is just the beginning with having Charity on board and sponsoring her to South Africa and we will make sure that she lacks nothing ahead of her special day,” said Chunguli.
