Kenya Police creative lynchpin Mohammed Bajaber has relived his dream experience following his successful stint with the national team, Harambee Stars.

From a little-known player, Bajaber endeared himself to the fans becoming among their favourites with some branding him ‘Kenya’s Starboy.’

In a video shared by Police FC on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Bajaber described his cameo against Gambia as a dream come true as he helped Harambee Stars come from behind to salvage a point in a thrilling 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In the 75th minute, Bajaber curled a stunning shot into the top right corner to level the match at 2-2 following an earlier upset with goals from Musa Barrow and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh.

“It was good; obviously I changed the game and we were able to earn a point. It was a good experience, and I really enjoyed it,” Mohammed Bajaber told Police FC.

The match against Gambia ended with a 3-3 scoreline courtesy of a last-minute qualifier from William Lenkupae.

Game against Gabon

Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy, who is tapped to lead Harambee Stars handed Bajaber his first start in the home game against Gabon.

Playing on the right wing alongside Eric Marcelo Ouma, Bajaber created a lot of problems for Gabon’s side. Ouma was able to get past defenders and curl in a flawless cross thanks to his deft flick, allowing the skipper, Michael Olunga, to half the deficit.

Although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace severely dented the East Africans’ hopes of reaching the finals, Bajaber expressed gratitude for being granted an opportunity to play in over 30,000-filled Nyayo Stadium.

The promising talent, however, promised to help the national team turn the tide around in the upcoming matches.

“It was an honour because it is not every day that you get to play for your country,” Mohammed stated on earning his first start for Harambee Stars against Gabon.

“I want to thank the fans for turning up in such large numbers it was an honour to play in front of that crowd. We disappointed by not getting the result but next time we will try harder and get the results,” he assured Kenyan fans.

The former FC Midtjylland Youth trialist impressed with his technical brilliance, agility, and ability to influence attacking play. Standing at 177 cm, Bajaber showed a great work ethic and provided a different style of attack to the Kenyan team.

With his technical abilities, Bajaber is primed to thrive both for Kenya Police and the national team.
