MMUST to face Impala as chase for Kenya Cup slot reaches final stage

Following the Top 6 playoffs on Saturday, March 16, 2024, the KRU Championship semifinal matchups have been confirmed.

In the first semifinal, former Kenya Cup side MMUST Rugby will face off against fellow former Kenya Cup side Impala RFC.

MMUST secured their spot in the last four by finishing atop the log with 44 points, while Impala had to navigate through the playoffs, defeating Western Bulls 29-17.

In the second semifinal, South Coast Pirates, aiming to break their streak of falling at the semifinal stage for the past two seasons, will take on Daystar Falcons.

South Coast Pirates secured a direct home semifinal by finishing second on the log, while Daystar Falcons clinched their spot in the last four by defeating JKUAT 24-7.

The match saw Falcons taking an early lead with a drop goal from John Oliele, quickly followed by a try from Davis Masiga for JKUAT. However, Daystar Falcons managed to maintain their lead with a try from Elvis Sande before halftime.

In the second half, the Falcons extended their lead with penalty kicks from Eddy Wambugu, eventually sealing the victory with a try from Arnold Agonda and another penalty from Wambugu, securing a 24-7 win and advancing to the semifinals.
