Mara Sugar FC, a team in the FKF National Super League, has officially appointed Benedict Wanjala as their new head coach ahead of the remaining matches in the season.

The announcement was made by the club on Saturday, shortly after their 1-0 victory over Darajani Gogo in a Super League match.

Wanjala's appointment comes after a period with an interim coach following the departure of Vincent Nyaberi, who left the club less than a month after his initial appointment in November.

The coach cited lack of a contract and commitment by the club after his appointment.

Nyaberi had a brief tenure of less than 30 days, managing the team for just two matches, both of which were victories, ending a three-game winless streak.

Nyaberi had previously led Murang’a Seal to promotion in the 2022-2023 FKF Premier League season.

Before joining Mara Sugar, he also coached Shabana FC and later joined Mully Children Family FC, parting ways with the latter after a series of poor performances.

Nyaberi was brought in as a replacement for coach Francis Xavier, who briefly served as an assistant coach at Sofapaka FC before departing and eventually being appointed by Kajiado FC.
