KCB donates six players to Malkia Strikers for Challenger Cup in Manila, Philippines

Six players from the National Women’s Volleyball Champions KCB have been called up to the national team Malkia Strikers for the upcoming Challenger Cup slated to take place from this Thursday through Sunday in Manila, the Philippines.

Those named include Esther Mutinda (setter), Juliana Namutira (opposite attacker), Belinda Barasa and Edith Wisa (middle blockers), Sharon Chepchumba (attacker), Lincy Jeruto (libero) Japheth Munala of KCB will take the helm as head coach, while Kenya Volleyball Federation deputy president Paul Bitok will serve as the team’s technical director.

Upon the team’s departure on Monday morning, coach Munala expressed confidence despite the challenges ahead. '

“We know the task ahead is a daunting one but, I am convinced we have a quality team that will compete against the top guns. We have prepared well for this tourney after the conclusion of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league. We hope to register for a good outing,” he stated.

The team will miss their experienced captain, Mercy Moim, who will not participate in the four-day global event.
