Legends T20 cricket tournament set to throw off in Nairobi next week

Cricket action in the country resumes in Nairobi after the New Year break with a Twenty20 tournament labelled; Kenya Legends T20 lined up for January 7, 2024.
A host of Kenyan legendary cricketers including; Steve Tikolo, Aasif Karim, Thomas Odoyo, Martin Suji, Kennedy Obuya,Rajab Ali,Lameck Onyango and Maurice Odumbe amongst others have confirmed participation in the day-long event.
At least 30 players will form two teams of 15 aside as they compete for a Trophy all in a bid to encourage the sport to grow. Speaking to Press recently, one of the Organizers of the tourney Chidambaran Subramanian of Stray Lions Cricket Club stated;
“We will have our legends grace this important day that is exclusive to cricket lovers. We do hope that during this tournament, the knowledge they will share especially to the young ones will be resourceful and impactful.
The idea really is to use them to activate a vibrant Juniors tournament featuring U15s preferably from 2025 where we will make the tournament bigger and work with franchises. All invited past greats of the game have been invited and have confirmed participation and that is great news. We look forward to a great event at Sikh Union Grounds,” he said, revealing also that the teams will be divided into Green and Blue as their jersey features.
